Senior Nuclear Technology - Subject Manager Expert (SME)

Scope:
JGMS Government Services is seeking a Senior Nuclear
Technology Subject Matter Expert (SME).
This position provides support for the Department of Energy, National
Nuclear Security Administration, Assistant Deputy Administrator for Research,
Development, Test, & Evaluation (NA-11).
Location:
This position requires regular on-site work at Department of
Energy Headquarters in Washington, D.C and in suburban Maryland.
Candidates who are not currently in the Washington D.C. area
but are willing to relocate are strongly encouraged to apply. Some telework may be possible, subject to
approval by the government client.
About
the Job:
We are
looking for an experienced nuclear professional to serve as an expert on
threats to United States interests related to nuclear materials and nuclear
devices.
The selected
candidate must have a solid understanding of nuclear issues, preferably with
nuclear engineering, metallurgy, nuclear physics, or radiochemistry training.
Prior
experience in nuclear fuel production, reactor operations, medical or
industrial radioisotope production and use, or nuclear weapons production would
be very valuable in this position.
Knowledge
of foreign civil or military nuclear programs would also be very useful.
As a
subject matter expert, you will be expected to constantly track the evolution
of civil and military nuclear programs worldwide, identify any new
vulnerabilities potentially impacting U.S. security, and take the initiative to
write intelligence products summarizing these changes for senior DOE/NNSA
leaders. You will also be expected to respond to short-notice requests for
information from DOE components and from interagency groups.
Experience
in writing intelligence products in accordance with current Intelligence
Community Directives would be very useful.
This is
an office-based position. However,
periodic domestic travel to DOE laboratories and plants may be required.
Occasional foreign travel to support DOE/NNSA principals at meetings and site
visits may also be necessary. While
visiting DOE laboratories and plants, the incumbent may be expected to wear
site-issued personal protective equipment and will be required to comply with
site-specific work safety and health policies.
Travel time is not expected to exceed 25%.
Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s
degree and at least 20 years of directly related experience
Or
Master/Doctoral
degree and at least 15 years of directly related experience
Security
Clearance:
Must
currently possess, or be able to ability to obtain, a DOE Q clearance with
access to Sensitive Compartmented Information.
