This role is instrumental in guiding people through every stage of their employment — from first interview to first day and beyond — while helping build and maintain the safety programs that protect our team members, our persons served, and our locations across Wayne and Holmes Counties.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide general administrative support to the HR team, including filing, scanning, copying, and preparing and organizing HR documents.
  • Post open positions on job boards and internal systems.
  • Schedule, coordinate, and communicate with candidates, creating offers of employment, and coordinating post-offer screenings.
  • Assist with new-hire paperwork, I-9 verification, and onboarding tasks as necessary, including performing orientation as back-up.
  • Manage employee life cycle including new hire entries, change of statuses, and terminations in all required systems.
  • Maintain personnel files and records in compliance with policy and legal requirements.
  • Complete verifications of employment as required.
  • Work in conjunction with the HR Director to develop and maintain the Safety Program.
  • Conduct internal safety audits and coordinate external safety inspections.
  • Conduct incident investigations and report trends to the leadership team.
  • Conduct safety team meetings and activities.
  • Attend monthly Wooster Safety Council meetings.
  • Maintain HR and Safety bulletin boards.
  • Mail distribution, supply ordering, and maintaining HR workspaces and areas.
  • Assist with Benefits administration, including open enrollment and employee support.
  • Assist with HR projects and other duties as assigned.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior clerical, administrative, or customer-service experience.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lift 20lbs and sit for extended periods of time.
  • Flexibility – may require an occasional evening or weekend.
  • License Check: valid driver's license and proof of insurability or can provide transportation.
  • Background Checks: Offer of employment contingent upon background check.
  • Drug and Alcohol Screen: Must pass a drug and alcohol screen prior to employment.

Preferred

  • Experience in HR, safety, administrative office roles, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with HRIS systems or applicant tracking systems.
  • Understanding of basic HR practices and employment laws.

Working Conditions

  • Standard office environment with occasional travel to other locations, if applicable.
  • May require flexibility during peak HR periods (onboarding cycles, open enrollment, etc.).

Pay Rate: $18.00 / hour
