About the Opportunity
This position provides basic assistance in support of
assigned projects and requires a strong working knowledge of software
engineering principles. Assignments typically involve moderately complex
technology, applications, and project goals. Perform work of low to moderate
difficulty and responsibility with minimal latitude and independent judgement. Work is monitored or reviewed
prior to completion.
Work will be performed from a corporate office location in
Grand Junction, CO. Work will be overseen by the JGMS division or project

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist
with analysis and characterization of meteorological data and provide
research and data for technical documentation and reporting.
- Assist
with input to support requests for new projects and data to support
technical documents for accuracy.
- Demonstrate
a diverse interest in and working knowledge of software engineering, data
science, coding languages, statistics, meteorology or an associated field.
- Perform
other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Working
knowledge of Python, Java, or a similar language.
- Working
knowledge of SCM tools, such as Git or SVN.
- Demonstrated
use of logic and reasoning to identify alternate solutions, conclusions,
or approaches to problems.
- Strong
ability to complete basic tasks with an elevated level of accuracy,
efficiency, and thoroughness.
- Time
management and organizational skills including prioritization of tasks
under strict deadlines.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience
working with Jenkins or other CI/CD services.
- Experience
working with virtualization services, such as Docker.
- Experience
working with cloud services and cloud management consoles, such as AWS of
GCP
- Experience
with data analysis and visualization
Education
Students must complete sophomore standing or above by May
2025 and be actively working towards a bachelor’s degree in computer science,
software engineering, or a similar STEM discipline.

(NextGen) is an IRS approved 501(c)3 charitable institution focused on supporting underserved/underrepresented students as they complete undergraduate degrees in their chosen science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields.
