Status: Full-Time / Exempt
Salary: $84K - $150K depending on
education and experience
Scope:
The Naval Nuclear Laboratory develops advanced naval nuclear
propulsion technology for the safety and reliability of our Navy’s submarine
and aircraft fleet. Our company is looking for an experienced Mechanical
Engineer to join our team as part of the
Propulsion Plant Team Trainer (PPTT) project, which is a
multi-site organization engaged in the design, production, testing, and
delivery of advanced training simulators.
The successful mechanical engineer will:

Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineers
across multiple locations.
·
Review and disposition Supplier design
submittals to validate designs based on technical requirements.
·
Interface with stakeholders to ensure project
objectives are satisfied.
Job Duties:
·
Support with drawings and investigations.
·
Provide data for technical documentation.
·
Inspect work in progress to ensure compliance
with contract requirements and adherence to schedules and budgets.
·
Provide input to support requests for new
projects, including review of statements of work and technical documents for
accuracy.
·
Support with the evaluation of project work
sites as needed and submit basic written reports and required paperwork.
·
Attend meetings and track project milestones.
·
Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and at least 3
years relevant experience (or equivalent education/experience).
Active L security clearance
Relevant experience should include:
·
Mechanical design or structural analysis.
·
Microsoft Office.
·
Technical writing.
·
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
·
Prior experience with SolidWorks or equivalent
3D modeling software.
·
Prior experience supporting design reviews and
technical interchanges with Suppliers.
·
Ability to review, understand, and apply
relevant engineering codes and standards (e.g. ASME).
·
Prior experience with Design for
Manufacturability.
·
Prior experience with Model Based Design.
·
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
·
Ability to think creatively and make
recommendations to senior project personnel.
·
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products.
Security Clearance:
Active L security clearance.
Background Check and Screenings
