HR and Payroll Coordinator

RGC Resources Inc., publicly traded on Nasdaq (RGCO) and parent of Roanoke Gas Company, is seeking candidates for the position of HR and Payroll Coordinator. 

Essential Duties:

Payroll Administration

  • Process bi-weekly payroll, ensuring accurate time records and proper calculation of federal and state tax withholdings, deductions and benefits.
  • Maintain payroll records, including wages, deductions, bonuses and overtime.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state payroll laws.
  • Manage garnishments, benefits deductions and attendance tracking/leave management.

Benefits Administration

  • Maintain and update employee records in coordination with external vendors and benefit carriers.
  • Process and prepare benefit related invoices, reimbursements and payments.
  • Assist with benefits enrollment and employee inquiries.

Recruiting

  • Lead placement process, including, drafting job postings, managing listings, screening applications and resumes, maintaining communication with candidates and coordinating interviews.
  •  Lead onboarding activities including scheduling pre-employment testing, facilitating new hire orientation and completing new hire set-up in HRIS.

HR Support

  • Assist with internal control testing, audit requests and other compliance reporting.
  • Coordinate and present HR and Payroll related updates and reminders at Quarterly Supervisor Meetings.
  • Assist with planning and organizing employee meetings and events.
  • Assist with special projects and initiatives as assigned by the VP of HR.

Website Support

  • Post press releases, quarterly filings and other reports, ensuring compliance with SEC requirements.
  • Coordinate with department managers to edit and update content, as needed.

 Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of payroll administration, related regulations and tax requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail and works in an organized manner.
  • High level of accuracy and strong analytical aptitude.
  • Demonstrated ability to think critically with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to adhere to high standards of confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Excellent communication abilities and a customer service mindset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint).

Education / Work Experience / Professional Licenses (Minimum):

  • Bachelors’ degree in accounting, business, human resources or related discipline.
  • Previous payroll and HR administration experience.

This is a full-time position with a competitive compensation package including base salary plus, annual bonus potential, medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) plan with match.
