IT Service Desk Technician

RGC Resources Inc., publicly traded on Nasdaq (RGCO) and parent of Roanoke Gas Company, is seeking candidates for the position of IT Service Desk Technician.  This position will provide customer service and first-tier technical support to users.

Essential Duties:

  • Respond to and resolve IT service requests related to desktops, laptops, printers, mobile devices, conference room technology, and basic networking issues via phone, email, chat, and in person.
  • Assist with onboarding new employees, including setting up hardware, software, access to resources, and providing an overall positive first impression for the user.
  • Install, configure, and maintain applications and operating systems as needed.
  • Aid in the administration of endpoint configuration and imaging tools for managing endpoint lifecycle from deployment to refresh.
  • Install, configure, modify, and repair computer hardware, software, and peripherals, including printers, scanners, and mobile devices.
  • Maintain accurate asset inventory records, track IT equipment assignments, and ensure compliance with company policies.
  • Support network connectivity issues, including troubleshooting Wi-Fi, VPN, and LAN/WAN configurations.

 Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

  • Proficiency in Windows desktop operating systems.
  • Basic knowledge of network and server management.
  • Phishing and threat awareness, incident reporting and response, security best practices.
  • Familiarity with ITSM (Information Technology Service Management) principles.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 applications and service desk management software.
  • Experience with managing and troubleshooting iPhones and iPads.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Positive attitude with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  •  A natural ability to troubleshoot and explain technical issues clearly to non-technical users.

Education / Work Experience / Professional Licenses (Minimum):

  • Associate’s degree in information technology or related certifications.
  • Previous experience in a technical support role or similar position.
