The Advertising Sales and Client Care Captain is responsible for bringing in and retaining advertising business in 48° North—a magazine and website about Pacific Northwest sailing and boating and the associated communities. The right person for this job will think it’s gratifying to build excellent relationships and understand clients’ needs; it’s rewarding to help promote those businesses and deliver outstanding and attentive service, and it’s fun that these mutually beneficial partnerships support a free-nonprofit publication about the awesomeness of boat-life in the PNW! This is a part-time, primarily remote position with benefits; and is a crucial part of the small and close-knit 48° North crew, a division of the Northwest Maritime (NWM).
We love working with team members who:
Are superb relationship builders, within our team and with existing and prospective advertising clients.
Are reliable and independently-motivated go-getters, but who also thrive on teamwork.
Are detail-oriented and organized, meeting their own deadlines, and helping clients do the same.
Are ultimately effective salespeople, bringing in revenue to enable the work of 48° North.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Sell advertisements for 48° North magazine, website, and associated special publications, including prospecting and winning new business
Work with 48N team to provide a customer-first advertising service experience for our family of advertisers, making sure we deliver on our advertising promises. Provide timely, accurate information about bookings and billing, internally and externally
Promote existing digital advertising products, and help develop new ones
Other duties as assigned
GENERAL OPERATIONS
While this position’s primary responsibility is in advertising sales and service, the Ad Sales and Client Care Captain will work as part of the NWM team to ensure smooth operations for the organization as a whole. This could include providing information about Northwest Maritime; or helping out in NWM projects, meetings, and events that require all-hands-on-deck. We all pitch in for the heavy lifting now and then—sometimes this is metaphoric; occasionally we all have to actually help lift something heavy.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
The desire and willingness to proactively build relationships and sell advertising, along with the ability to make the focus of that sale about the customer’s needs as much as our own
Technical proficiency to learn and work in Salesforce for customer relationship management and advertising bookings, and in the Google Suite (sheets, docs, email, chat) for internal work and communications
Organizational skills and attention to detail to be responsive to clients, meet deadlines, and prepare accurate documents to inform the 48N team who is advertising and to inform the Finance Department which clients should be billed and for how much
