Billing - Financial Counselor - (FT)

The purpose of the Financial Counselor is to be a source of expertise regarding the patient’s financial responsibility to Madisonhealth and to ease their financial burden through resource connections, application assistance, and payment options. The Financial Counselor helps patients understand how much their hospital services will cost, advises them of their insurance benefits, and assists them in applying for potential patient assistance programs if needed. This position involves having a broad understanding of billing and collection processes and medical terminology as well as excellent communication skills in order to provide professional and compassionate service to the patients of Madisonhealth.

- Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:00pm
Required Skills:
1. Has fundamental understanding of basic math calculations and health insurance terminology.
2. Working knowledge of computer systems with strong keyboarding skills, and the ability to learn new programs.
3. Must be willing and able to maintain confidentiality and use discretion in carrying out responsibilities.
4. Has strong organizational skills, excellent problem-solving capabilities, and a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
5. Must feel comfortable interacting professionally with patients, hospital employees and physicians in a prompt, courteous, and professional manner.
Minimum Work Experience:
1. One year of experience in medical billing, admitting, or scheduling preferred.
Minimum Education:
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
