The role
Solaris Healthcare provides hospice, home health and palliative care across twenty-five offices in north, central and east Texas, and operates its own pharmacies to serve those patients. We are looking for a business operations leader to run the pharmacy side of the company as it grows.
This is a business and operations role rather than a clinical one. Our pharmacist-in-charge at each site owns dispensing and clinical practice. You would own the economics, contracts, data, expansion, delivery logistics, and other systems that let a multi-site pharmacy operation serve a large geography well.
What you would own
Multi-site operations
- Operational performance across all pharmacy sites: workflow, staffing schedules, throughput and service levels to our care teams.
- Delivery logistics and driver operations, including routing, on-call coverage and cost per delivery.
- Inventory management, purchasing discipline and shrink control.
- Standard operating procedures that work the same way at every location.
Expansion and new sites
- Site selection analysis: drive-time modeling, labor supply, lease economics and volume forecasting.
- Full ownership of new pharmacy openings, from lease through licensure, build, systems, staffing and go-live.
- Texas State Board of Pharmacy and DEA applications, working with counsel and our pharmacists-in-charge.
Contracts and cost
- Wholesaler relationships and prime vendor agreements, including generic compliance ratios, rebate tiers and secondary supplier strategy.
- Contracts with partner and network pharmacies where we route volume rather than fill it ourselves.
- Vendor management across software, packaging, insurance and delivery.
- Cost per prescription filled as a managed metric, with a documented plan for reducing it.
Data and reporting
- Build the reporting we currently lack: script volume by site and service line, cost to fill, delivery cost per run, urgent order frequency and cause, inventory turns, contract margin.
- Own the pharmacy management system and its data quality.
- Bring analysis to leadership decisions rather than opinion and be willing to have that analysis challenged.
Compliance and quality
- Partner with each pharmacist-in-charge so that every site stays inspection-ready.
- Own the operational side of Board of Pharmacy, DEA and accreditation readiness: records, security, controlled substance accountability and policy currency.
- Track regulatory change that affects how we operate and translate it into practice.
Required
- Five or more years running pharmacy operations, ideally closed-door, long-term care, hospice, specialty or infusion rather than chain retail.
- Ownership of a profit and loss statement or a significant cost line, with results you can describe in numbers.
- Direct experience with wholesaler contracting: prime vendor agreements, generic compliance ratios, rebate structures, secondary suppliers.
- Genuine comfort with data, including reporting and AI use where applicable.
- Experience with Board of Pharmacy and DEA inspections from the operations side.
- Willingness to travel a service area that currently runs from the Red River to the Hill Country and east toward Tyler.
Preferred
- Hospice or long-term care pharmacy, including comfort kits, cycle fill and facility relationships.
- Experience opening a pharmacy from scratch.
- Business or health administration degree.
- Pharmacist license (PharmD or RPh), or certified pharmacy technician who has moved into operations leadership.
