Dock Attendant (SUMMER SEASON)

As a Dock Attendant, you will provide outstanding, friendly customer service to all port patrons and employees. This position serves to provide direct support to marine guests in the Point Hudson Marina and the Boat Haven, managed by the Port of Port Townsend.
You will welcome and assist visiting boaters with docking and securing vessels, including line handling and fendering as needed. Walking the docks, you will enjoy the fresh air while providing hospitality to guests, including welcoming RV visitors and handing out Port of Port Townsend welcome bags. With an eye for detail, you will maintain the cleanliness and safety of the marina by picking up trash.
Each day you will coordinate with the Port of Port Townsend customer service representatives (CSRs) using a radio or some other method of communication so they can ask questions and relay information. They will provide lists of the ins and outs each day for both the marina and the RV park. You may be asked to help with incidental (non-union) tasks.

QUALIFICATIONS
Basic knowledge of line handling, vessel operations, and docking
Ability to work weekends and holidays throughout the summer
Capability to lift, pull, or carry up to 50 lbs
Physical ability to walk, crouch, kneel, twist, stoop, reach, bend, and climb
At least 16 years of age
WAGE & WORK SCHEDULE
$16 per hour, non-exempt seasonal
Benefits: 1 hour of sick time accrued per every 25 hours worked & employee discounts
Initial training will occur in early June, determined by applicants' availability
Shifts are 4 hours per day from either 8:30 AM - 12:30 PM or 12 PM - 4 PM
The coverage schedule will be shared between 4 - 6 dock attendants
GENERAL OPERATIONS
While this position’s primary responsibility is greeting and welcoming visitors to the marina, the Dock Attendant will work as part of the NWMC team to ensure smooth operations for the organization as a whole.
